Terms of Use

1. These terms

They govern your use of It Works on My Machine (the "Game"), published byAdam App Studio, and of this website. Installing or using the Game means you accept them. The terms of the store you downloaded from also apply.

2. Store terms, and Apple in particular

Copies obtained from the App Store are additionally governed by Apple'sLicensed Application End User Licence Agreement, and where these terms conflict with it, it prevails. Apple is not a party to these terms; Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of them and may enforce them against you. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the Game. Copies obtained from Google Play are governed by the Google Play Terms of Service in the same way.

3. Your licence

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and play the Game on devices you own or control, for your own entertainment. You may not sell, rent, sublicense or redistribute the Game or any part of it, and you may not reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble it except to the extent that applicable law expressly permits despite this restriction.

4. There is nothing to buy

The Game is free to download and has no in-app purchases, no subscriptions, no advertising and no virtual currency that can be bought with money. You pay nothing for it, so there is nothing to refund. If the price ever changes, any refund would be handled entirely by the store you downloaded it from, under their refund policy. We cannot process refunds ourselves.

5. Ownership and other people's work

The Game, its code, art, audio and text are owned by Adam App Studio and protected by copyright. These terms give you no rights in them beyond the licence above.

The products named in the Game are fictional. Names such as Enjinx, Reddish, PostgreSQueal, Grafanna, Jenkinz, Dockr, Terrorform and Kuberneighbours are parodies invented for the Game. They are not real products, they are not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any real company, and any reliability figures the Game attaches to them are made up for play. Any resemblance to a real product is the joke, not a claim about it.

The Game is built with the Godot Engine (MIT licence) and uses the Inter and JetBrains Mono typefaces under the SIL Open Font Licence 1.1, along with icon sets credited in the Game's About screen.

6. Your save data

Your progress is a file on your device. It is yours. There is no cloud sync and no server copy, so if you delete the Game, lose the device or clear its data, the save is gone and we cannot restore it. See thePrivacy Policy.

7. Acceptable use

Modifying the Game or its save file is your own affair and your own risk. A Game in that state may behave in ways we have not tested and we do not support it. Do not use this website in a way that interferes with it or with anyone else's use of it, and do not scrape it automatically at a volume that burdens the host.

8. No warranty

The Game is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Game will be uninterrupted or error-free. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties, so some of this may not apply to you.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Adam App Studio is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, lost profits or lost save files, arising from your use of the Game. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the greater of the amount you paid for the Game, which is currently nothing, and ten units of your local currency. Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited, including your statutory consumer rights, which these terms do not affect.

10. Availability and changes

We may update the Game, change it, or stop distributing it. A copy already installed on your device keeps working offline regardless. It does not check in with us. We may revise these terms, and the date at the top shows when we last did.

11. Termination

Your licence ends if you materially breach these terms, and it ends whenever you delete the Game. Sections 5, 8, 9 and 12 survive.

12. Your local law

These terms do not name a governing law. Wherever you live, you keep the full protection of the mandatory laws of that country, including your consumer rights, and you may bring proceedings there.
